Majority of children lack access to primary education because in many areas, parents are required to pay for their children’s education, and poverty remains the main reason they give for not sending their children to school. We provide access to education, particularly for female and poor students, in rural and pastoral areas of Somalia where the poor families’ children have no access to go schools.
In order to expand access to quality and affordable education, IRS has been working on creating and improving quality education through constructing and furnishing of schools, improving school facilities and providing educational materials across Somaliland, Puntland and South-Central Somalia. Islamic Relief Somalia constructed schools for students from poor families in Da’arbuduq district of Somaliland, Bal’ad district of Middle Shabelle, and Garowe of Puntland.
